Currently…

I’m a UX Researcher at the National Laboratory of the Rockies (formerly the National Renewable Energy Laboratory) supporting various energy and energy modeling applications, such as the Geothermal Energy Atlas and the Coordinated Interagency Transmission Authorizations and Permits Program (CITAP) Online Portal.

In terms of my professional interests…

I have a variety! Originally I started out working in international relations and wanted to learn (and research!) all I could about globalization, media, and history. After working abroad in the public sector for a couple years, I decided to make a change, expand upon my media studies background with some solid HCI coursework at UMSI, and shift back into a research-focused role in the private sector.

Right now, my Top Five interest list is:

  1. Research—mostly qualitative research in the Renewabl Energy space but studying up on quantitative, too

  2. Non-profit sector—currently I’m leading tech at Enabled Activist (site in progress)

  3. Digital media and humanities—especially related to marginalized communities and Ojibwe language education at Ojibwe.net

I love learning new things and using those cool new things to become a better global citizen. Right now that means designing experiences that make people’s lives better.
